Andrea Hlavackova has taken a dig at Roger Federer

Andrea Hlavackova has taken a dig at Roger Federer’s countrywoman Martina Hingis, hinting that she believes the Swiss intentionally banged the ball straight at her eye to get her hurt and out of the match.

It was just a matter of one point for Hlavackova and her partner to win that Round of 4 Match and eliminate the team of Hingis and Timea.

But, then, suddenly, a powerful forehand off the racquet of Hingis smashes one of the eyes of Hlavackova putting her on the way to Hospital.

The doctors examined and revealed that Hlavackova had fracture in one of the bones of the eye she had been hit at and she had to be kept in supervision for that day which meant Hingis & Co. earned a timeout.

The third position match was scheduled the following day which the two semi-final losing pairs had to turn up for. Hlavackova did turn up for that with stitches on her face, but, was never going to be able to compete at her best with that kind of condition and so, ended up getting beaten.

Hingis had to suffer a loss as well in the final and had to be content with Silver only.

On asked for her opinion on that Hingis forehand which got her hospitalized, Hlavackova, the Czech Republic native said, “Martina is someone who has got a fair idea of how to go about it as she is a legend in my opinion. But, yeah watching the replays, I thought there was enough room on either side of me for the ball to be hit rather than bang onto me.”

If it was intentional from Hingis, her desperation was understandable as it was after two long decades that she was finally appearing in Olympic Games.
